Nexus Information Systems was founded by Terry Fox, CEO, in St. Cloud Minnesota back in 1987. The company was incorporated as First Byte Computers, Inc. but has evolved over the last 20 years in both name and mission.
First Byte Computers started as a retail computer storefront, with a focus on Apple Computers. Over the next five years, First Byte evolved from a storefront reseller of Apple and PC’s, to a service and sales provider to small businesses and schools. The name changed to Computers of St. Cloud and we became a networking Value Added Reseller (VAR).
Apple took notice. In 1997, under our new name of EDTECH, we were awarded the coveted Apple Sales Agent franchise. With only seven agents in the country, EDTECH had a territory of four states with 50 million dollars in sales and offices in Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Wisconsin. EDTECH became the top performing agent in the country two out of the next three years. Apple discontinued its agent program in 2000.
EDTECH went back to its roots in 2001 as a network VAR for businesses. Company headquarters moved to our present location in the Carlson Technology Center in Plymouth, Minnesota. The name was changed to Nexus Information Systems to better fit with the new mission and vision of Nexus becoming the premiere provider of IT services in the Twin Cities metro area.
Today, Nexus Information Systems is recognized nationally as the regional leader in sales and service of hardware, storage, networking, and managed services. The company continues to evolve through a dedicated strategic planning process. New products and services will be added as the IT industry changes and our client's needs grow. Our devotion to the core values of client satisfaction, integrity, and accountability will be the basis for the next evolution in our long history.
